On Saturday 5th April 2014 we held our 7th Open Art Exhibition at St Andrew’s Church in Netherton. A decision was made to hold the exhibition in April rather than November to see if this would be advantageous and it was concluded that it is a preferable time of year.
We had 280 paintings on display, submitted by both the group and local artists living in and around Peterborough. The exhibits, in several mediums, were displayed in both the Church and hall as in previous years. Standards of the exhibits were as high as ever and 29 paintings were sold to discerning visitors.
After spending an enjoyable time perusing the paintings our visitors then spent some time chatting and relaxing over a cup of tea or coffee together with a slice of home-made cake baked and served by group members. A lot of behind the scenes helpers also washed up a large amount of dirty cups and saucers!
We were very pleased to raise £1000 from the event which is divided equally between Alzheimer’s Peterborough and St Andrew’s Church which is our group’s “home”. The funds were raised as follows –
|Hanging Fees – 274 paintings||£346.00|
|Commission On Sales (10%)||£79.60|
The commission figure includes the full proceeds of Hilary Currie’s sales (£35) and £4 donated by Pat Murphy for a sale concluded after the exhibition finished.
As it is such an untidy total and David likes things to be neat and orderly he has donated £2.27 making :-
A Grand Total of £1000.00
Photographs of the event, taken by a number of our members can be seen in the following slide show :-
Thanks to all, hope to see you again next year!
